DSA Information
What is the DSA?
DSA stands for the Disabled Students’ Allowance. It is funding which is available to students with a disability or neurodiversity (including dyslexia) to support them in their studies at university. Its main purpose is to help students to overcome any challenges and reach their full potential. The DSA is a grant and does not need to be paid back.

Can I get the DSA?
If you are a UK resident studying in higher education (at a university or college) and have a disability or neurodiversity, then the answer is likely yes. The following conditions are examples for which support may be available:

-
Specific learning difficulties such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia
-
Attention deficit disorder (ADD) or ADHD
-
Mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression and PTSD
-
Autistic spectrum condition (ASC).
-
Long-term illnesses such as HIV, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes and cancer
-
Physical impairments
-
Sensory impairments

You will need to provide proof of your disability in the form of signed medical evidence or a diagnostic report from a qualified professional. For more information on the DSA, please see the government website.

How can it help me?
The allowance is available to cover any additional cost that may occur when studying as a result of a disability. Examples include (but are not limited to) funding towards:
-
Equipment, such as a computer and specialist software
-
One-to-one support
-
Printing costs
-
